Life Lessons
What are Life Lessons?
Life Lessons are compulsory timetabled sessions that will take place once a week in Year 12 and once a fortnight in Year 13.

During Life Lessons you will learn valuable life skills, as well as information to support your understanding of the world around you and life beyond SWCHS.
​
Life Lessons will be delivered by your form tutor (in most cases) and should be treated like any other subject lesson.
​
What are Life Lectures?
Life Lectures are compulsory timetabled lectures that will take place once a fortnight.
​
In a similar format to University Lectures, Life Lectures, will be hosted by guest speakers from both external agencies and internal SWCHS staff.

Year 12:
- New environments and meeting new people
- Online relationships and online activity
- Contraception and sexual health including STI’s
- Harmful Sexual Behaviours
- Understanding mental health
- Anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD and self-harm
- Suicide awareness and male mental health
- Managing risk including alcohol and drug use
- Drive Safety
- CV Writing and preparing for interviews
- Online digital Resilience
- Employment rights
- Work experience support and professional conduct in the workplace
- How to be critical consumers of information

Year 13:
- Discrimination, prejudice and inclusion
- Respecting faith, forced-marriage and honour-based crimes
- Stalking and Harassment
- Harmful Sexual Behaviours
- Self – harm, suicide awareness and male mental health
- Managing risk including alcohol and drug use
- Drive Safety
- Stress Management
- Healthy Diet and Budgeting
- Money and Budgeting including taxes, National Insurance, borrowing money, Trade Unions
